Caere, sites 1, 2 and 4 1985-1987

Caere, site 2 introduces the concept of origin and disapearance; thus relating to the temporality of human beings and objects.

It was inspired by a combination of two archeological sites in Italy: the burial-grounds of Populonium and Cerveteri (Caere, in Etruscan language). These ancients places have given archeologists and historians the essential evidence needed to trace the history of the Etruscan poeple back to about 1000 B.C., followed by their slow assimilation and final disappearance, about the 8th century.

Caere, site 2 is essentially a fictious archeological object, an image, an interpretation of the historical process of destruction and reconstitution.“
