Vessels 2011

Rives, dérives - Festival international de sculpture contemporaine, Wavrechain-sous-Denain, Escaut Valley, France — Metallic and wood structures covered with shredded fabric — Two boats: H.150 x L. 520 x W. 70 cm and H.190 x L. 700 x W. 90 cm

(…) the red orange Vessels are anchored in the middle of the pond. Their tall, open and slender forms seem animated by a light movement. Reality or illusion created by the shivering waves where the image is blurred?  The Vessels offer a contemplative and poetic space. A place where neither melancholy nor nostalgia are summoned: floating space, as timeless, and yet presence in the world, is thought of “as experience of the sensitive, artistic and aesthetic experience” (Sabine Barbé, Presque des naufrages, Montreal, 2010).
