(…) “The elements of Assemblée pour un rite recall, in the geometry of their form, the traditional kimono of Japan but imitate it only approximately. (…) So you might think you’re moved to Japan in an exotic ceremony for us, but if you look at it, it’s not just Japan that’s haunting these hanging tattoos. There’s something about us all. If we have spoken of Japan, it is because there is an obvious resemblance with the kimono but, corporeally considered, Assembly for a rite does not lock itself in this peculiarity. It gives us a sense of belonging to our place and our time, whoever we are.” (…)
